A Little Luck in Soho
St Patrick’s Month at Albert’s Schloss

London never really needs an excuse for a good party, but when St Patrick’s Day rolls around, this city shows a particularly high level of enthusiasm. This year, Soho’s gloriously over-the-top Bavarian playground, Albert’s Schloss, is taking things up a notch by stretching the celebrations across the entire month.

Running from 2–29 March, it’s less a nod to Ireland and more a full-blown takeover. Expect the usual Schloss energy, just with a distinctly Irish twist. Think flowing pints of Guinness, generous Jameson pours and a crowd that’s very much up for it.
The menu leans unapologetically into comfort. A rich ‘Cow & Guinness Pie’ arrives properly indulgent, with braised beef shin and bone marrow, while the ‘Smoked Salmon Irish Boxty’ feels like the lighter, but no less satisfying, counterpart. And then there’s pudding, because of course there is. Hello ‘Sticky toffee with Jameson sauce’ that feels entirely in keeping with the mood of the room.
Drinks-wise, it’s exactly what you want. Classic serves sit alongside something a bit more playful, like the ‘Irish Velvet’, which is dangerously easy to order again.
But what really makes Albert’s Schloss what it is, is the sense of theatre. This isn’t somewhere you quietly mark an occasion. It’s live music, big voices, long tables and that slightly chaotic, brilliant energy that Soho does so well. For St Patrick’s, that means Irish bands, themed brunches and a special ‘Kunst Kabaret’ that leans fully into the spirit of the month.

As we protest we are too full to possibly manage dessert, we are told that the cheesecake is ‘life-changing’ and one visitor took a take out home – to Leeds. How can we not try this? We share the feta and honey cheesecake on a crisp kadaif base and it’s honeyed, creamy, warm and crisp all at once. A perfect end to a meal that feels celebratory and summery.
There’s even a ‘Push for Luck’ moment on selected dates where you can quite literally roll the dice on your night, anything from a round of Baby Guinness to, if you’re very lucky, your entire bill disappearing.
If you’re after something that feels a bit more fun than your standard pint and parade, this is it. A slice of Irish charm, via Bavaria, right in the middle of Soho. Sláinte.
